The center-piece of the Carl Cherry Center for the Arts 60th anniversary celebrating artistic freedom and the impact of art and performance on free expression, BLACKLISTED will include films, dialogs with individuals linked with the era and its personalities, and an exhibit exploring the climate of fear and betrayal created by HUAC . BLACKLISTED will also include the central coast premier of Trumbo: Red, White & Blacklisted, a riveting drama by playwright Christopher Trumbo. In 1947 Dalton Trumbo was at the top of his game. The legendary author of Spartacus, Roman Holiday, Exodus, Papillon and Johnny Got His Gun, Dalton Trumbo was a highly sought-after screenwriter when he stood up to the House Un-American Activities Committee and was thrown in prison and blacklisted as one of the infamous "Hollywood Ten." BLACKLISTED will also include the Monterey County premier of Will Eno’s spellbinding play, Thom Pain (based on nothing) starring Peter Reynolds and Jeffrey Hatcher’s Thief of Tears (excerted from Three Viewings) starring Patrice Parks.

An exhibit exploring the climate of fear and betrayal created by HUAC Committee. BLACKLISTED will also feature an exhibit of original artwork examining some of the themes associated with the Hollywood Ten.
