The Carl Cherry Center Seeks Monologues for
“One On One” Playwright Competition

Carmel, CA – April 1, 2008-- The Carl Cherry Center for the Arts is seeking high-quality monologues for “One On One,” a new works playwriting contest to be staged next October in Cherry Hall.  Writers and dramatists are encouraged to submit previously unproduced, original monologues from 5 to 30 minutes in length. The overall contest winners will receive monetary awards and a staged reading in Cherry Hall in October, 2008.

The competition is part of “Talk To Me“, a weekend festival devoted to the art and format of monologue plays.
Deadline for the competition is July 15th.

Original pieces submitted for the competition should be character-driven, rich and vital theater creations with interesting stories to tell. “Talk To Me” will include a wide range of short one-of-a-kind monologue plays from established storytellers and playwrights working in the monologue format. Performances will include the winning monologue from the “One On One” Competition.

Contest winner will receive cash awards and fully-mounted production or staged reading in Cherry Hall.
